Hey ahclarinetists.
this will probably be my last post before i handover.
don't worry, it will be short and sweet :D

just wanted you guys to recall 'HOLLYWOOD DREAM' @ UNIVERSAL STUDIOS JAPAN.

We were queuing up to get into USJ. after we got in, the first thing we saw was HOLLYWOOD DREAM.
And we decided (FINE I DECIDED) that we ride it.
We queued up for the ride. It was hell long. We were so scared, so excited, so nervous. We couldn't stop talking about it. We watched the people on the ride scream, wave at us, and we couldn't wait to be up there.
Finally, we got to board it.
We were so scared. Some of us wanted to get out of the queue. It scared them all the more to see that the only safety belt was a metal bar. But the rest of us pressed on, and encouraged them. Promised them we'll come out alive. In the end, we all boarded.

The ride started off at a moderate pace.
We reached the bottom of the slope. And we ascended it.
Then, at the peak, we screamed for dear life. Screamed and screamed and screamed.

The dive down scared the crap out of us. We were so freaking scared. Some of us cried and screamed and grabbed the people beside them. Some of us closed their eyes, hoping it would be over. Some of us screamed in adrenaline rush. The sharp bend threw us of edge, we screamed, 'cause we were so afraid of falling off.

Then the rest of the mild bumps were merely fun.

Then the ride comes to the end. Some of us were so exhilarated; we wanted to ride it again.

We departed the place after getting our bags. We watch all the other people worry the shit out of themselves or the ride we overcame.

This is so applicable to AHBAND life. Think about it. I don't wanna explain.
Do your best, enjoy your time here. Don't regret.

Its our last milestone, at least for the sec4s, now that BAND CAMP '11 is over.

Our last time to shine.

I want to fly. Really, truly, soar with all i'm worth, and not just by
wearing starry socks and pretend i'm flying.

I know we can do it. We just need to focus. And keep our eyes on the prize.

And hold on.

I really want to do this right. I want to be catching air no more.

DEAR SECTION.

Sorry for not organizing an outing during the holidays >.< I swear we will have one before O levels ok!

Are you guys ready for SYF'11? Cause its arriving in about 2 or so more months, if you haven't started working hard, now is a good time to start. Just a thing to let you guys know, the auditions weren't meant to let you guys feel "Oh i feel safe cause i passed auditions", or "Shoot i didnt pass so i suck for life :(((".

The auditions were held to show you where you stand between your peers in band and how much effort you actually put in, and also to point out where your mistakes are and how to improve them. So don't feel disheartened if you didnt manage to get in, cause theres always a second chance you guys can take! To be honest I think Mr. Chua was too lenient to us, because I myself dont feel i deserve the mark. In fact, I felt that i should have failed so i could retake the auditions.

Hmm everyone gets nervous sometimes but we cant afford to let that emotion get the better of us during the competition, no?

Dear ahclarinets!

I havent posted for quite awhile, and exams are REALLY REALLY NEAR. LIKE JUST NOW.

P.S Amaths and SS are killers ok you sec 2s better study hard for them...

Anyway, just to encourage you guys to sprint for the final lap and persevere till the end, then band and sectionals will start again...YAY :(

Haha anyways after the exams we can all think of stuff to do like section outing, buying *cough* farewell presents *cough* for our sec 4s. (any of you here can just sms me what you guys want :D) Um thinking of going east coast to cycle or maybe iceskating. Any of you who dunno how to cycle or iceskate should just drop into a swimming pool and drown ok. But we can teach you guys and its not like any of us are professionals anyway, so ya just think of ideas and stuff you guys wanna do.

BACK TO EXAMS.
Just a quote to encourage you guys.

What it means that to get your results, you gotta focus in order to achieve it, like how a magnifying glass concentrates the sun's light into a point where to can burn stuff. So you guys must act like a magnifying glass, and focus on your studies and BURN YOUR PAPERS MUAHAHA.

Really hope you guys dont end up like me...I studied on my bed and ended up sleeping 2/3 of the times i had notes in my hand. Lesson learnt, never study on a bed or a comfortable mattress. And do drink plenty of water, helps to transport O2 to your brain.

So sec 1s and 2s start their exams on next wed? It has already begun for us sec 3s anyway, so I wanna wish all of us all the best for the coming and ongoing exams. JIAYOU!

Haha haven't posted something about NBC yet leh!
Ahem okay...ERM WELL NBC IS OVER. How'd you guys feel about our gold? :)

Alright to me, it felt like: "WHAT!?"

Cause apparently we all knew that ahband didnt play our best during
the performance, but we still got the award. Hows that possible?

Hmm firstly i dont think NBC's standard is reliable compared to SYF, like many people said,
a gold or w/ distinctions would prob be a silver-near gold standard. And i hope ahband doesnt
aim to achieve such a low standard! To achieve greater heights, we must first plan ahead and work beyond our target! SO YES SYF'11. Its not gonna be that easy, and i dont think we would wanna have that "we dont deserve that" feeling again. Well its over, bygones be bygones, we have new dreams ahead...

Another thing. Japan trip.

For those who has the opportunity to participate in this event, you know what we must do!
You all know that japanese bands are !@#$%^&* crazy erm...AWESOME. You guys should
have went to the Meiden Meridian concert la. I admit that the HIGH SCHOOL JAPAN BAND owned MJ just by hearing the first song. (sorry) But yes you get the point. Our standards are not
to match the japanese, and we cant showcase anything for them if we dont improve so.....

PRACTICE. Turandot. Its an impressive and WOW huge scale piece, but its not easy. We cant play without practice and drilling, which is why I'm encouraging you guys to self prac AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! (since the day you were labelled as a AHBM)

For those people who arent selected for the japan trip, dont worry cause there many other opportunities in the future, and your band life doesnt end here so DONT. STOP. PRACTICING.
Every single member is important to the band, and its by luck and selections that some of us unfortunate people arent chosen. During the period of half the band's absence, I dont want you guys to slack at home thinking that everything is done and over. But i want you guys to keep improving yourself while we are away, and we will definitely fill you guys up on the trip.

SO yeah i have to go now. Just want you guys to know that NDP is next friday.
AND WE ARENT SAFE YET SO KEEP THE PRACTICES GOINGGG!!!!!

Hello clarinets. Its a new term and I hope you guys have new goals for the months ahead!Everyone learns from past mistakes and promises to to better and all, but whats important, is to not give up, and not commit the same mistakes again. Sounds familiar eh?

Yeah so hows your day? If you guys dont know, we have exactly 2 & half days left with our dear sec 4s, before they officially become alumnis. If you have not hugged, kissed, punched or bite them when you wish you had, better go do it like NOW. Its gonna be different without them. Different, in a bad way. So gather ye rosebuds while ye may!

Saturday, is gonna be exciting. Whoever the next SL, ASL, leading batch and whatsoever be, i hope everyone would support and help whoever those unlucky people are. Cause its not easy to lead, especially with a bunch of uncivilized apes like us being part of the team.

EH YOU ALL WATCH THE VID RIGHT. About the japanese (PRIMARY) school girls. I felt ashamed. I think we all should. Alright, at least aim for a standard high than theirs please -.-
I feel that discipline is important, especially in AHband. WE ARE NOW nothing. Cause we kinda
dont have proper discipline, therefore not giving seniors/conductors/teachers/batchmates respect, therefore not giving a damn about anything else in the world right? I dunno. I feel like im one of them. I hope it will change for the better, really. KACHING!

( i totally don't know how to start this post properly, i'm not those kind of good touching post writer so, i apologize for any unconstructive stuff)

I too LOVE MY SECTION!
CLARINETTSSS

and SYF really did gave us lotsa bonding
like i never imagined i could laugh so hard till my stomach hurt
if not for it, i think i would still remain quiet...( don't have to know this)
the sectionals were like the best, there was never one that passed without laughing
and some weird people... COUGH COUGH ... run after me with water in their mouthpiece ready to pour that gross liquid on me...
we made fun of cough cough and cough cough cough being together, and then start laughing uncontrollably again
and thru this i somehow gained this sense of belonging.. to this wonderful section
that was the thing that kept me on, that told me i have to play my best
i would never forget the period we spent together...
our section is so weird, everyone is weird, in a way, except cornelia

sec4s,
the closest seniors to our batch
the ones that taught me my first few band pracs
odelia, jingyi , ximeng
odelia: you are like the nicest person on earth
even when you should be nice, you are nice
i get high everytime i message you, maybe cos your replys are always damn nice to read

I LOVE CLARINET GARDEN!

the bee, the cactus, the tree, the grass, the tomato, the bunny, the carrot and some unknown species :)

handover is coming soon..
but the garden will remain its size :D
unless some unkown species like THE cornelia rottens away or something.

Lets not despair, for the judging never determined the spirit of AHband,
but its the music and hearts that piece the band together.

I really wanna thank my whole section for the music, experience, and all
the fun we've been through together. What happened hours ago was just an experience
we went through. Like our alumnis said, we cant let 6 or 7
people affect AHband. I think that 15 minutes on stage was just a simple "Pop Quiz", and not something like O levels which determine your future.

You guys should read Hong wei's note on facebook, as it inspired me to work harder and not give up, and I believe everyone should too.

Dear Sec 4s,

You guys are stepping down soon, and the time we can spend together wont
last that long. I want to say a really BIG BIG thank you on behalf of all your juniors.
I'm grateful we can have such great (and funny) seniors like you all! I'm sure everyone
would wish for you all to come back even after the handovers.

After the garderners have retired, their sons and daughters would have started
sowing and watering the seeds of the next generation.

Our clarinet garden will never wither away!
